Product Overview

How it works

   The linear dynamic surface thermocouple functions similarly to conventional thermocouples, based on the principle of the thermoelectric effect. Its characteristic is that when the temperature of any point on the surface of the measured equipment increases, the temperature value of that point can be measured.

   The positive and negative thermocouple wires are isolated from each other by a material with a high negative temperature coefficient, which is a material whose insulation resistance decreases sharply with an increase in temperature. This isolation packaging allows for the continuous generation of the highest millivolt potential values along the entire length of the cable.

   At any point along the length of the linear dynamic surface thermocouple, when the temperature at that point exceeds the temperature of the rest of the thermocouple, the resistance of the insulating material between the thermocouple wires at that point decreases, forming a "temporary" hot junction (T1). If a second higher temperature point (T2) occurs at any other part of the cable, the insulation resistance between the wires at that point will decrease and be much lower than the resistance at point T1, forming a new "temporary" hot junction. This "temporary" hot junction functions the same as the conventional single-point hot junction of a thermocouple.
